AID Urges PM Modi To Fast-Track Nagpur Airport Redevelopment
The association outlined that improved airport infrastructure would strengthen connections between Nagpur and domestic and international markets and would reduce travel time for business delegations and cargo movements. It argued that modern facilities and enhanced runway and terminal capacity would catalyse manufacturing and services clusters in the region. The association urged coordinated action from central and state authorities to finalise project approvals and to fast-track land acquisition and clearances. The association highlighted the necessity of modern cargo handling and passenger amenities to match demand.
Stakeholders in Vidarbha reportedly welcomed the appeal and stressed the need for a clear timeline and financing plan to avoid further delays. The release noted that timely redevelopment would support employment generation and supply chain resilience for small and medium enterprises across the region. It emphasised the airport's potential role as a multimodal logistics hub connecting rail and road networks. Local chambers urged swift action to protect investment timelines and to attract new projects.
The association requested that the Prime Minister consider prioritising the project within national aviation infrastructure programmes and that an inter-ministerial taskforce be constituted to monitor progress. It said regular status updates and stakeholder consultations would improve transparency and investor confidence. The association indicated readiness to assist with technical inputs and to co-operate with authorities to expedite implementation. AID offered support.
