Air India exits Imphal; AI Express to continue

Air India has ended its operations at Imphal International Airport from 15 June 2025. According to AAI officials, the withdrawal is part of a pre-planned strategic realignment by the Tata Group, which owns the airline. The group’s low-cost carrier, Air India Express, will continue operating from the airport, ensuring sustained air connectivity for Manipur. The decision is reportedly reflects the company’s restructuring efforts aimed at optimising its network and service models across regions.
