Air India (AI) is set to bolster its pilot training capabilities with a substantial $200 million investment, according to sources. This move comes as the airline embarks on an ambitious expansion of both its fleet and network. In February, AI inked a monumental deal with Airbus and Boeing, placing orders for a staggering 470 aircraft, with an estimated expenditure of approximately $70 billion, based on published list prices. Furthermore, the airline is actively leasing additional planes to facilitate the expansion of its destination offerings.

To support this aggressive growth strategy, Air India is channelling resources into enhancing training facilities catering not only to its pilot cadre but also to cabin crew, engineers, and ground staff. In this pursuit, AI is forging strategic partnerships with prominent aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing, as disclosed by insider reports.

Campbell Wilson, Managing Director and CEO of Air India, commented on this significant investment, stating, "The allocation of $200 million for simulator facilities underscores our commitment to building capabilities not just for Air India but also for other industry stakeholders."

Air India's strategic investments are poised to strengthen its position in the aviation sector as it continues to chart an upward trajectory in its expansion efforts.
