Bevel Gears India (BGI) has inaugurated a 70,000 sq ft manufacturing facility near Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, dedicated exclusively to aerospace and defence gearing.

The facility has been developed to manufacture flight-critical gearing with dedicated production, inspection and quality infrastructure. It will produce spiral and straight bevel gears, zerol and angular bevels, beveloids, hypoid and high-ratio hypoid gears, curvic couplings and precision parallel-axis gearing.

The plant will cater to aero-engine, helicopter, UAV, actuation and aerospace gearbox programmes, supporting customers from prototype and development stages through to serial production. BGI will also provide reverse engineering services for legacy and obsolete components.

The facility houses Gleason and Klingelnberg CNC bevel and hypoid gear grinding lines, including what the company said are India’s first Gleason 275G CNC hypoid grinder with a straight bevel grinding option and Klingelnberg Oerlikon G80 CNC hypoid grinder. It is also equipped with DMG 5-axis machining centres and a climate-controlled metrology room featuring ZEISS coordinate measuring machines and Gleason gear inspection systems.

Located within Bengaluru’s aerospace corridor, the facility provides BGI access to aerospace OEMs, MRO companies and Tier-1 suppliers as global aerospace manufacturers increase sourcing from India.

The unit operates under AS9100D-certified aerospace quality systems and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification. BGI also plans to add heat-treatment capabilities and secure NADCAP accreditation for special processes in the next phase.
