The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister, approved a revised total capital cost of Rs 36.31 bn for construction of greenfield connectivity to Jewar International Airport from the Delhi-Faridabad-Ballabhgarh-Sohna spur of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on hybrid annuity mode in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. The decision updates the project budget previously estimated by central authorities and designates the scheme as a priority for regional transport development in the National Capital Region.

The 31.42 km corridor will provide direct high-speed connectivity from South Delhi, Faridabad and Gurugram to Jewar International Airport, aiming to enhance passenger access and freight movement across the region. The alignment intersects the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Yamuna Expressway and the Dedicated Freight Corridor, enabling multimodal convergence that planners expect will reduce travel times and support logistics efficiency for the broader NCR economy.

Approximately 11 km of the route will be developed as an elevated highway, forming a critical segment between the DND-Ballabhgarh bypass and Jewar International Airport and linking to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The elevated section traverses areas earmarked for high-density urban development under the Faridabad Master Plan, 2031, and the revised estimate includes an additional Rs 6.89 bn for this structure with the Government of Haryana agreeing to bear Rs 4.50 bn of the cost.

Officials described the scheme as a strategic enabler for urban transformation, regional connectivity and national logistics optimisation, noting that the corridor is intended to unlock the full potential of the Jewar Airport–Delhi–Mumbai Expressway axis and support sustainable urban development in Faridabad. Implementation on hybrid annuity terms will involve staged construction and payments, with state and central agencies coordinating land, utility relocation and environmental clearances prior to execution.
