Carver Aviation, a Baramati-based flying training organisation, has expressed interest in establishing a satellite flying academy at Vijayapura Airport, which is ready for inauguration. Infrastructure Development Minister M B Patil held discussions with Carver Aviation director Neville Bharucha and manager Pramesh Parikh at Khanija Bhavan in Bengaluru and the company has sought two point five acres adjoining the airport to establish the facility. The minister said an official meeting will be held to discuss the proposal and finalise its modalities.

The proposed facility is intended to support pilot training, aircraft maintenance, maintenance, repair and overhaul and ground support activities. Once operational the academy would be permitted to use the airport runway, taxiways and apron while the allotted land would accommodate hangars and training and maintenance infrastructure. The plan envisages a mix of practical and technical training tailored to civil aviation requirements.

Patil said the project could create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, provide opportunities for local students and strengthen aviation activity in north Karnataka. Company officials indicated concessions on training fees for local students as part of efforts to broaden access. Carver Aviation has been operational since 1995 and is approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as a flying training organisation.

Local authorities and company representatives are expected to outline timelines and regulatory clearances during the forthcoming meeting and to resolve technical and land allocation issues. Stakeholders noted that a satellite academy at Vijayapura would deepen the training pipeline in the region and support ancillary services such as maintenance and ground handling. The matter will proceed through standard administrative channels before any formal approval or construction begins.
