Union Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu chaired a high-level stakeholder meeting at Delhi Airport to assess the operational challenges arising from the upgradation of runway 10/28 and the impact of unexpected westerly winds. Attendees included officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India (AAI), DGCA, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), airline representatives, and CISF personnel.
The Minister emphasised the need to minimise disruptions to passenger movement and airline operations, urging all stakeholders to engage in collaborative and comprehensive planning. He directed them to integrate real-time weather updates into their response strategies and make efficient use of existing resources to ensure smooth airport functioning during this critical period.
Highlighting the importance of passenger comfort and proactive measures, Shri Naidu called for enhanced coordination among all parties, including ATC and AAI teams, to uphold operational efficiency even with one of the airport's four runways undergoing renovation.
He expressed confidence in the sector's resilience, stating that Delhi Airport can maintain its world-class service standards through collective effort and timely communication with passengers. The meeting concluded with a commitment to meeting the runway upgrade deadlines while ensuring minimum inconvenience to travellers and airlines.
