CM To Inaugurate Rs 820 Million Navsari Bus Port Today
The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has adopted a model to upgrade bus stations across the state into full-fledged bus ports equipped with enhanced commuter facilities. Developed under the PPP model, the Navsari bus port includes deluxe waiting rooms, RO drinking-water stations, departmental stores, refreshment canteens, wheelchairs for divyang passengers and CCTV surveillance.
So far, twelve such bus ports have been completed in Gujarat. Larger city bus ports are also being designed with additional commercial features such as cinemas, banquet halls and shopping complexes.
Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Patil, State Finance and Urban Development Minister Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Tribal Development Nareshbhai Patel and Minister of State for Transport Pravinbhai Mali, along with several MLAs and MPs, will attend the inauguration.
According to the Gujarat CMO, the development of these well-equipped bus ports has strengthened Gujarat’s position as a major travel hub by improving public transport efficiency, enhancing comfort for passengers, creating new business opportunities, boosting employment for youth and women, and improving accessibility for students travelling for academics.
