A team of scientists from the Central Water and Power Research Centre (CWPRC) arrived on a three-day visit to study the runway bridge and conduct an environmental impact assessment at Kangra airport in Gaggal, which has been in the works for a long time.

Kangra deputy commissioner Nipun Jindal stated that a decision has been made to form a district-level committee that will coordinate with the team after meeting with stakeholder agencies and scientists. The committee will assist the team in preparing a report, focusing on the restoration of water schemes built on Manjhi Khad, preserving their natural flow, and providing ecological advice.

Gaggal airport's existing airstrip measures 1,370 m. The runway length would be increased to 3,010 m under the expansion plan. A preliminary expansion plan was prepared in 2019, but the project was postponed due to the pandemic.
