Airbus has awarded Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt Ltd (MASPL) a contract to manufacture the main fuselage for its best-selling H125 single-engine helicopters, further strengthening the aerospace giant’s commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative. The announcement comes less than five months after Airbus signed a similar contract with MASPL for the H130 helicopter fuselage in April.

With this latest contract, MASPL becomes an additional source for H125 fuselages, and industrialisation will begin immediately at its Bengaluru facility. The first delivery is expected in 2027. Airbus said that awarding the production contracts for both H125 and H130 aerostructures to MASPL firmly integrates India into its global helicopter value chain.

The H125, widely used for passenger transport, law enforcement, tourism, aerial work, medical evacuation, and rescue missions, is poised to become an important product in India's evolving civil and defence aviation markets. Airbus is already investing heavily in local manufacturing, with two Final Assembly Lines (FALs) under development in India—one for the H125 helicopter and another for the C295 military aircraft, both in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd.

Airbus currently sources components and services worth USD 1.4 billion annually from India. The addition of the H125 fuselage production is expected to deepen local aerospace capabilities and catalyse the growth of new helicopter market segments in India, such as Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), disaster response, and law enforcement.
