Minister Narayana Advocates for International Airport in Amaravati

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, Ponguru Narayana, emphasized the importance of an International Airport in Amaravati, reinforcing the proposal. Narayana, who has been closely supervising the construction of Amaravati, stated that an international airport is essential for attracting investors and industries to the city.

He explained that international companies and investors would only consider Amaravati if it had an international airport. He further mentioned that smart industries would be drawn to the city if it had good air connectivity, which is why the government is planning to build an international airport there.

Minister Narayana also drew a comparison with Hyderabad, noting that the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport was constructed at Shamshabad even though Hyderabad already had an airport at Begumpet. He highlighted that without the Shamshabad airport, the number of flights operating to and from Hyderabad today would have been significantly lower.

The Minister added that the government is currently exploring options for land pooling and procurement to secure land for the construction of the international airport.

With ongoing debates surrounding the proposal for the international airport in Amaravati, the Minister's recent comments suggested that the Chandrababu Naidu government is gauging the public's response to the idea.
