Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu has pledged rapid airport development across Andhra Pradesh to support Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of turning the state into a logistics hub. Virtually launching the Kurnool–Vijayawada air link from Delhi, he said the new service will greatly benefit residents of the undivided Kurnool and Anantapur districts. The minister noted that flight capacity within the state has risen by about 15 per cent this year, with extra services at Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Kurnool and Kadapa. Plans are under way for new airports at Bhogapuram, Nellore, Anantapur and Kuppam, and he promised full support to widen connectivity from Kurnool, including the introduction of night landing facilities.
State Roads and Buildings Minister B. C. Janardhan Reddy urged additional routes and revised timings so arrivals reach Kurnool by 5 pm, while Industries Minister T. G. Bharath pressed for swift installation of night landing equipment. MPs, MLAs and district officials joined the virtual inauguration, underscoring local backing for the expansion.
