New Footbridge Links Mumbai Metro To CSMIA Terminal 2

In a major boost to passenger convenience, a new foot overbridge connecting Mumbai Metro Line 3 with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’s (CSMIA) Terminal 2 has become operational. The facility eliminates the need for travellers to navigate traffic bottlenecks on the last stretch, allowing them to walk comfortably from the metro to the terminal in just a few minutes.
The bridge, spanning around 100 metres, links the CSMIA–Terminal 2 Metro Station on the Aqua Line directly to Lift Entry/Exit A1 of the terminal building. The distance that commuters previously had to cover — about 450 metres — has now been reduced to only 118 metres, significantly easing airport access.
Designed with ample walking space, the bridge accommodates passengers carrying bulky luggage and ensures they are shielded from traffic-heavy areas. Sharing the update on X, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) stated: “Good news for flyers! No more rushing through traffic before your flight! The newly built 100-metre foot overbridge connects directly to Terminal 2, making the journey fast, easy and convenient.”
Spread across 1,900 acres, CSMIA is India’s second busiest airport and holds the distinction of being the world’s busiest single-runway facility. With direct connectivity to 54 international and 67 domestic destinations, the airport remains one of the country’s most significant global gateways.
