New Rs 20 billion Guwahati airport terminal to open in April 2025

The Rs 20 billion Adani Group-operated Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati will open its new terminal in April 2025, according to a senior official. Initially targeted for completion by December 2024, the project faced a four-month delay due to design changes aimed at adding more facilities.

"Our new terminal will be ready by April 2025. The slight delay was due to design modifications to enhance the building's facilities. We aim to make it the most efficient terminal in the country," said Chief Airport Officer (CAO) Utpal Baruah.

In August 2020, the Union Cabinet approved leasing the Guwahati airport to Adani Enterprises for 50 years for its operation, management, and development. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) was developing the new terminal before the management was transferred to the Gujarat-based entity in October 2021. (Source: Moneycontrol)
