The Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted in-principle approval for the development of greenfield airports in Kota, Rajasthan, and Puri, Odisha. The decision is expected to enhance regional connectivity, promote religious tourism, and support economic development in both regions.
The proposed airport in Kota will serve the city’s growing population and the wider Hadoti region. Known as a major educational and industrial hub, Kota is also the parliamentary constituency of the Lok Sabha Speaker. The ministry noted that the airport will meet the region’s increasing demand for air connectivity due to expanding economic activity.
In Puri, the new airport is set to provide a significant boost to religious tourism and improve overall infrastructure. It will also support regional development by making the area more accessible for domestic and international visitors.
Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu approved the proposal, highlighting the government’s continued focus on infrastructure expansion. These developments come as India strengthens its position as one of the fastest-growing civil aviation markets, currently operating more than 150 airports nationwide.
