The redevelopment of the old terminal at Pune Airport is scheduled for completion by August two thousand twenty-five. With the new terminal already operational, the ongoing upgrade will enhance infrastructure to meet growing passenger traffic.
As per the Airports Authority of India, the old terminal’s arrival hall will be converted into an extended departure hall, linked to the new integrated terminal building through a corridor. The refurbished area will add sixteen check-in counters to reduce wait times and streamline passenger movement.
A new security zone with door frame metal detectors and X-ray machines will also be introduced to improve screening efficiency. Two automated boarding gates, an additional departure gate and expanded ticket counters are part of the upgrade plan.
The redevelopment adds six thousand square metres to the existing thirty-six thousand square metre facility. Rs 250 Mn has been allocated by the central government for the project. Once completed, the airport will house forty-eight check-in counters and have a projected handling capacity of 10.5 Mn passengers annually.
The initiative aims to modernise the airport and strengthen its operational capacity in line with rising demand.
