Report Finds Cost Overruns on Dwarka Expressway

A recent report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has revealed significant cost overruns on the Dwarka Expressway project. The construction of the much-awaited expressway, which aims to connect Dwarka in Delhi to Gurugram in Haryana, has been plagued by delays and escalating expenses.

According to the report, the Dwarka Expressway project has experienced cost overruns of around 35%. This increase in costs can be attributed to various factors, including land acquisition issues, delays in obtaining environmental clearances, and insufficient planning and coordination among authorities involved in the project.

The CAG report highlights the lack of effective monitoring and project management as key reasons for the cost overruns. It also suggests that the project's budget estimates were not based on a comprehensive analysis of the ground reality. Additionally, the report points out the absence of a proper mechanism to resolve disputes and delays arising from stakeholder issues.
