TechnoStruct Enables India’s First Nature-Themed Airport
TechnoStruct has delivered advanced BIM coordination for the new integrated terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, recognised as India’s first nature-themed airport terminal.
The terminal, inaugurated by Narendra Modi, is inspired by Assam’s “kopou phool” (foxtail orchid) and bamboo, and is designed to handle 13.1 million passengers annually. Backed by an investment of Rs 50 billion, the project aims to enhance Northeast India’s aviation connectivity and position the region as a gateway to Southeast Asia.
TechnoStruct contributed across key construction stages, including façade systems and drywall works, delivering LOD 400 BIM execution models to ensure precision in construction. The company also developed LOD 500 as-built models with asset coding to support long-term operations, maintenance and lifecycle management.
Commenting on the project, Roy Aniruddha, Founder and Chairman, TechnoStruct, said, “The Bamboo Orchid terminal represents the future of infrastructure… our role in enabling accurate, coordinated BIM delivery ensured that complex design seamlessly transitioned into construction and long-term operational value.”
The project highlights the growing role of digital engineering and BIM technologies in executing complex, design-led infrastructure developments in India.
