The Telangana government has sanctioned an additional Rs 900 million for land acquisition for the Mamnoor Airport project in Warangal, taking the total allocation to Rs 2.95 billion.

According to a Government Order (GO) issued by the Transport, Roads & Buildings (Airports) Department on Thursday, this new sanction is in addition to the Rs 2.05 billion approved earlier on 11 November 2024 for the same purpose. The earlier order had authorised the Warangal district collector to acquire 280 acres and 30 guntas of land for airport development.

The Finance Department has already issued a Budget Release Order (BRO) for the initial Rs 2.05 billion. In the latest communication, the government confirmed that the district collector requested both the release of previously sanctioned funds and the additional Rs 900 million to finalise awards and disburse compensation to affected landowners.

In a related development, the government recently granted administrative approval of Rs 4 million for a pre-feasibility study of the proposed greenfield airport at Anthergoan in Peddapalli district.

The Government of Telangana has proposed to develop six regional airports across the state to enhance air connectivity. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been appointed as the consultant to prepare Techno-Economic Feasibility Reports (TEFRs) for these airports.

As per a GO issued on 11 October, the consultancy fee was set at Rs 4.05 million, with AAI’s Executive Director (Architecture) in New Delhi confirming that the rates will remain valid until 31 December 2025. The Finance Department has accordingly released the required allocations for FY 2025–26.

The Anthergoan greenfield airport site, proposed in Peddapalli district, spans 591.24 acres, marking another step in Telangana’s plan to improve regional aviation infrastructure.
