Telangana Plans Four New Airports to Boost Regional Connectivity
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has approved the proposed Peddapalli site, which will require 950 acres of land and be designed for dual use by both passenger and IAF aircraft. Plans include separate terminals and air traffic control systems, with the airport capable of handling Airbus A320 operations.
In contrast, the Kothagudem airport project has been delayed due to unsuitability of the identified land, prompting a search for an alternative site. Airports at Mahbubnagar and Nizamabad are planned as domestic facilities to strengthen connectivity with neighbouring states and promote trade.
Modelled after the successful Kadapa airport in Andhra Pradesh, these projects aim to drive local economic growth and support future air cargo operations, positioning Telangana as a key regional aviation hub.
