Tezu Airport: New terminal building inaugurated in Arunachal Pradesh
The minister announced that Itanagar will soon be connected to Rupsi, Jorhat and Delhi under the UDAAN-5 scheme. The terminal building has the capacity to handle 300 passengers at present, with the potential for expansion to accommodate up to 1000 passengers in the near future. AAI undertook the development and upgradation work to operationalise the airport at the request of the state government. The works undertaken include extension of the runway and construction of a new apron for 2 ATR aircraft, construction of a new terminal building and a fire-station-cum ATC tower. He asserted that over 0.25 million UDAN flights have helped more than 13.7 million people travel under the scheme. Teju airport was operationalised in 2018 under the RCS UDAN scheme of the civil aviation ministry.
