Vizag Airport to Resume International Cargo
The absence of international cargo services since 2019-2020, when the airport last handled 470 tonnes of international cargo, had been a significant hurdle for local businesses, particularly those in pharmaceuticals, textiles, and seafood (especially shrimp). With the resumption of these services, these industries are expected to see a marked improvement in transportation options and global reach.
Vizag Member of Parliament, M. Sribharat, played a pivotal role in advocating for this development by engaging with the Union Government and facilitating discussions between airport authorities and central committees. Sribharat, along with Union Minister Rammohan Naidu and State Minister Nara Lokesh, worked tirelessly to bring this vision to fruition. He hailed the resumption of services as a critical milestone for the industrial sector, underscoring the significant logistical and economic benefits it will bring to the region.
