BMC Removes 28 Structures for Ghatkopar Road Widening

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has begun a demolition and eviction drive in Ghatkopar West, Mumbai, as part of a road-widening project. Civic officials said 28 structures affected by the project were removed during the action.

The operation was conducted on October 7 by the BMC’s N Ward office. It covered the stretch between Jhunjhunwala College and the Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road, where the proposed widening work is being carried out.

The civic administration said the structures had been identified as affected by the planned road expansion. The eviction action formed part of the process to clear the required area for the project and facilitate the widening work.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of N Ward Assistant Commissioner Jaideep More. BMC officers and employees were present during the drive to implement the civic body’s action at the affected site.

Police personnel were also deployed to provide security during the operation and help ensure that the action proceeded smoothly. The BMC said the drive was carried out by its N Ward office, while further details about the road-widening project and the next phase of action were awaited.
