Centre Approves Six-Lane Upgrade for Hyderabad's Regional Ring Road
01 Jun 2025 Editorial Team
The Central government has approved upgrading the northern segment of Hyderabad's Regional Ring Road (RRR) from a four-lane to a six-lane expressway. This 161.5 km stretch, connecting Sangareddy to Choutuppal, was initially tendered in December 2024 with an estimated cost of Rs 5,554 crore. In response to the upgrade, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is revising the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and conducting new traffic studies. Existing bidders will be asked to update their proposals accordingly. Land acquisition for this segment is nearly complete, with costs shared equally between the state and central governments. The project aims to accommodate anticipated traffic volumes and is slated for completion within two years, followed by a five-year maintenance period.
