The Union Ministry of Rural Development has approved funding of Rs 42.24 billion for the construction of 316 rural roads across 19 districts in Jammu and Kashmir under Phase 4 of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-4). The total length of the proposed road network is 1,781 kilometres.

According to official sources, Rajouri district received the highest allocation, with 41 road projects sanctioned at a cost of Rs 5.88 billion. These projects span several locations, including Manjakot, Darhal, Kalakot, Dhangri, Nowshera, and Budhal.

Poonch district was reported to follow closely, with 40 roads sanctioned under the scheme and an allocated budget of Rs 4.84 billion. The planned roads will connect areas such as Bufliaz, Lasana, Mankot, Surankot, Loran, Mendhar, and the main Poonch town.

Doda district will see the development of 31 roads at a cost of Rs 6.61 billion. These projects are expected to benefit areas including Chirala, Bhaderwah, Changa, and Udaipur. In Ramban district, 26 roads have been approved with a funding of ₹416.10 crore, covering regions like Ramban, Banihal, Rajgarh, Ramsu, and Ukhral.

Reasi district is set to receive Rs 4.53 billion for the construction of 21 roads in areas such as Katra, Thakurkot, Anras, and Mahore. Meanwhile, Udhampur district will see 20 roads built with a budget allocation of ₹304.18 crore, benefiting localities including Udhampur town, Sevna, Chenani, Panchari, and Khoon.

Officials indicated that the initiative aims to improve rural connectivity and infrastructure in the Union Territory, enhancing accessibility and supporting economic development in remote and underserved areas.
