Survey procedures have commenced in Ernakulam district for the construction of the proposed coastal highway, with the second phase of the project set to be implemented ahead of the first. The Kerala government issued an order on August 28 authorising the initiation of processes for this phase, which spans from Vypeen to Munambam.

Pre-survey activities such as document collection are already underway, and fieldwork is expected to start immediately after Onam, according to officials from the Revenue Department.

“The survey for the second phase, from Puthuvype to Munambam, has been initiated as per the government directive,” said a department official. A gazette notification outlining the property details of affected landowners has already been published, and survey stones were laid a year ago.

Surveyors are currently being deployed, while parallel tasks like realignment planning, bend identification, and other technical assessments for road design are also in progress. Alongside land measurement, work on land categorisation and value estimation has also begun to facilitate the acquisition process.
