Commissioning of Bailey Bridge Restores Niti Valley Connectivity in UK

The Border Roads Organisation has constructed a Bailey bridge over river Girthiganga to replace the old bridge that had collapsed in April. This collapse had resulted in the isolation of approximately six villages in Niti valley and the border outposts of Niti pass.

The portable bridge was made operational, thereby reestablishing direct road connectivity for the villages and the border outposts.

The construction of the bridge, which connects Kurkuti-Gamshali-Niti road and Niti pass, was deemed significant from social, economic, and strategic perspectives, as stated by Colonel Ankur Mahajan, the Commander of the BRO task force during an interview with PTI.

The bridge's construction was essential for the expansion and reinforcement of the Mana-Mana pass and Joshimath-Malari roads. These roads are slated for development under the Bharatmala project.
