Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced on Friday a major infrastructure development project led by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The project aims to transform the Daboka-Dimapur Section of National Highway-36 & 39 into a modern 4/6-lane thoroughfare, covering a substantial distance of 20.68 kilometers.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Union Minister Gadkari described this undertaking as an "ambitious project" with a primary objective to enhance connectivity between the northeastern states and the rest of the country. The project aspires to provide commuters with fast, sustainable, and cost-effective mobility options, thus addressing the longstanding issue of transportation in the region.

Highlighting the government's unwavering commitment to delivering world-class highway infrastructure, Gadkari stated that this project embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for transforming the northeast and accelerating its economic growth.

Furthermore, NHIDCL, on Thursday, unveiled its plans for the construction of the Dimapur bypass, specifically the Assam portion. This 4/6 Lane pavement project is set to extend from the existing Km 159.400 of NH-36 to the existing Km 102.500 of NH-39, ultimately connecting to the endpoint of the Assam portion. This development represents a significant step towards enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region, fostering economic development, and promoting connectivity for the benefit of residents and commuters alike.

These transformative initiatives are poised to play a pivotal role in elevating the transportation landscape in the northeastern part of India, ultimately contributing to the region's overall progress and development.
