The Dahisar-Bhayandar Coastal Road Project has received environmental clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA), subject to stringent ecological safeguards and compliance conditions. The approval was conveyed to the Bombay High Court, highlighting the project’s obligation to ensure mangrove restoration and adherence to coastal regulations.

According to MCZMA, the project will proceed only if the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) strictly follows prescribed environmental norms, including compensatory mangrove plantation and regular monitoring of coastal biodiversity. The move aims to balance infrastructure development with ecological preservation along Mumbai’s coastline.

The Dahisar-Bhayandar link forms a crucial extension of the city’s coastal road network, connecting the western suburbs and easing vehicular congestion. Once completed, it is expected to significantly reduce travel time while supporting Mumbai’s long-term urban mobility goals.

The court was also informed that environmental agencies will oversee compliance throughout the project’s construction phase to mitigate potential ecological impact.
