The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has initiated work on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the four-laning of National Highway-765 from Tukkuguda on the outskirts of Hyderabad to Dindi via Kalwakurthy, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari informed the Rajya Sabha.
Responding to a question raised by Congress MP M. Anil Kumar Yadav, the Minister confirmed that the DPR preparation for the Tukkuguda–Dindi section of NH-765 is underway. He added that national highway development is a continuous process, with projects taken up based on connectivity requirements, strategic priorities, and alignment with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
The proposed expansion is expected to significantly ease travel to the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam—one of India’s twelve Jyotirlingas and a Shakti Peetham. A consultant has been appointed for preparing the DPR for the 85-kilometre stretch, officials stated.
Once the existing two-lane road is widened to a four-lane carriageway, travel time from Hyderabad to Srisailam via Tukkuguda and Dindi is likely to reduce by nearly an hour—from five hours to four—offering a more seamless journey for pilgrims and tourists.
The project will also enable vehicles to bypass Amangal and Kadthal villages en route to Dindi, streamlining traffic flow and reducing congestion along the corridor.
