Faridabad-Jewar Expressway Toll Plaza Work Begins at Mohna

Construction of the toll plaza at the Mohna interchange on the Faridabad-Jewar Expressway has begun, with completion targeted within two months. Toll collection is expected to start only after the plaza and the expressway are ready for use, although the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has not announced a confirmed date or the applicable rates.

NHAI is developing the 31-km greenfield road to connect Faridabad with Noida International Airport in Jewar. About 24 km of the route lies in Haryana and 7 km in Uttar Pradesh. The road begins near Sector 65 in Faridabad, crosses the Yamuna, passes through the Palwal area and enters Uttar Pradesh before connecting with the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) Expressway.

Vehicles entering or leaving the expressway through the Mohna interchange will be subject to toll charges. The interchange is considered an important connection because it will link the airport road with the KGP Expressway, while the final fee structure remains pending from NHAI. Collection could begin once construction work on both the plaza and the road has been completed.

Several operational features have already been completed along the route, including street lighting, road markings and signboards. Speed limits have been fixed at 100 km per hour for smaller vehicles and 80 km per hour for larger and heavy vehicles. Vehicle speed-monitoring systems have also been installed along the expressway.

The project includes a landscaped median supported by an automated irrigation system. Pipelines and sprinklers have been laid to water plants in the green belt regularly and reduce reliance on repeated manual watering. Dheeraj Singh, NHAI project director, said the toll plaza work was progressing rapidly and reiterated the two-month completion target, while noting that toll rates and the collection start date were still awaiting confirmation.
