Ganesha Point's road overbridge probably be finished by mid-June

According to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) sources, the flyover being constructed near Ganesha Point in front of the Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) complex in Tiruverumbur on the Tiruchi-Thanjavur highway will be finished by mid-June.

In response to continuous public demands stemming from the frequent accidents near the Ganesha Point Roundabout, the new bridge was authorised. The traffic island was commonly regarded as being excessively large after the Tiruchi-Thanjavur highway was widened by NHAI a number of years ago, and vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed frequently encountered accidents while navigating the tight turns. A few years ago, when a number of automobiles capsized while navigating the roundabout, requests to build a flyover there and eliminate or scale back the roundabout grew louder.

Although construction on the service lanes and drains along the road over the bridge started in 2020, the project moved slowly forward. The work was put on hold for several months during the COVID-19 epidemic, like other infrastructural projects.

Early last year, work on building the service lanes continued in preparation for building the road over bridge. The approaches on either side of the road flyover have already been erected, but the middle of the bridge has not yet been constructed. The project would be finished at the very latest by mid-June, if not by the end of May.
