GMDA Floats Rs. 7.76 bn SPR Elevated Road Tender
The elevated road is scheduled for completion within 30 months of work allotment. The last date for submitting bids is November 18. GMDA officials said the corridor would improve traffic movement and ease bottlenecks at intersections connecting sectors 69, 70, 71/72, 70/75, 71/74, 75/75A, 74/74A and nearby areas.
Traffic studies and population projections conducted by the authority indicate that these junctions will require grade separation within the next 10 years, as peak hourly traffic is projected to exceed 10,000 car units. The proposed structure will have four elevated lanes in each direction between Vatika Chowk and NH-48, along with 3+3-lane primary service roads and 2+2-lane secondary service roads.
The design includes second-level access roads towards the Sector 75 and 75A roads, another access route towards Tulip Chowk, multiple ramps, loops and surface-level U-turns. GMDA said the arrangements would support smoother movement between the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and Sohna Road while reducing pressure on the existing road network.
The project was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini at the PWD Guest House in Gurugram. GMDA chief executive officer PC Meena said the second phase would include a grade-separated dynamic interchange at Vatika Chowk, while the third phase would cover an 8.5-km elevated corridor from Vatika Chowk to Ghata. Detailed project reports for both phases are being prepared.
The authority had floated a previous tender worth Rs. 7.55 bn in March, but cancelled it in June after the state government sought changes to the request for proposal document. During the review, Saini also directed officials to accelerate the Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital, strengthen Gurugram’s drainage network, add rainwater harvesting structures and create ponds and drainage provisions in green belts.
