Haryana government has approved two road projects in Gurugram totalling Rs 686.9 mn, covering the missing link between Sectors 68 and 69 and the upgradation of the seven?point?one km IFFCO Chowk?Southern Peripheral Road corridor. The approvals were given on 18 August at a High Powered Works Purchase Committee chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The projects are slated for completion within one year.

The first project, at about Rs 268.3 mn, will complete the dividing road between Sectors 68 and 69 that stalled over land acquisition since 2019. A one?point?one km stretch developed in 2022 left the link incomplete and constrained movement. The scope includes nearly two km of service roads, stormwater drains, footpaths, cycle tracks, green areas and repairs to the carriageway.

The link will provide an alternative route between Sohna Road and the SPR and improve access to Sectors 68, 69, 70, 70A, 75 and 76. It is also expected to offer relief while the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) undertakes planned works on the SPR, helping to distribute traffic across the local network during construction. The upgrades aim to ease congestion and improve mobility for residents and businesses.

The second project, at about Rs 418.6 mn, covers the seven?point?one km IFFCO Chowk?SPR corridor that passes through Sectors 27, 28, 29, 43, 44, 52, 52A, 56 and 57, linking residential and commercial areas with the SPR. Works will provide a bituminous overlay on the main carriageway, footpaths and cycle tracks on both sides, stormwater drainage and junction improvements. Safety measures will be added to make pedestrian movement safer and to support commuter flows between central Gurugram and the expanding southern areas.

The projects emphasise non?motorised infrastructure alongside vehicle movement as part of comprehensive corridor upgrades. GMDA chief executive officer P C Meena said the works were planned to cover carriageways, service roads, pedestrian and cycling facilities, drainage and junctions. The approvals coincide with Gurugram’s southern expansion and both projects are due within one year.
