Haryana segment of Dwarka Expressway set to open soon
The remaining 9.5 kilometres of the expressway in Delhi are expected to be finished by the end of June. While the full benefits of the country's inaugural elevated urban expressway will only be realised when the entire 28.5-kilometer stretch is open for traffic, the inauguration of the corridor in Gurgaon will provide relief to commuters.
Upon the completion of the entire stretch, it is anticipated that 40-50% of the traffic will transition to this new road from the congested Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, particularly during peak morning and evening traffic hours.
The Dwarka Expressway, also recognized as the Northern Peripheral Road, commences from Shiv Murti on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and links Dwarka in Delhi to Gurgaon in Haryana. The predominantly elevated road concludes near the Kherki Daula toll plaza. Developed with an investment of Rs 90 billion, the expressway will boast the country's lengthiest and broadest urban road tunnel, measuring 3.6 kilometres in length and featuring 8 lanes.
