Heavy vehicles will be permitted to use the flyover starting at 6 am on July 29, as confirmed by KB Jayakumar, Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Bengaluru. This decision comes after a thorough evaluation of site and traffic conditions, with the approval from NHAI headquarters based on recommendations from a four-member expert committee and the local traffic police.
However, it is important to note that heavy vehicles will be prohibited from using the flyover once a week to mitigate vibrations during ongoing cement grouting works.
As part of the ongoing improvements, the NHAI has added 240 prestressed cables across the 120 spans of the flyover and is replacing 1,243 existing prestressed cables to prevent future corrosion, as recommended by the expert committee. These enhancements aim to ensure the longevity and safety of the structure, providing a reliable route for Bengaluru's heavy vehicle traffic.
