The trial phase for the five tunnels connecting Hanogi to Jhalogi in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh's has commenced. These tunnels are part of the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane highway and are now open for vehicular movement, although they have not been officially inaugurated.

Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways in India, shared the update on Twitter. He emphasised the significance of the tunnels in terms of both strategic importance and tourism potential. Out of the ten tunnels being constructed from Pandoh to Ot in the Mandi district as part of the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane project, five tunnels from Hanogi to Jhalogi have been completed and are now accessible for trial purposes.

Previously, there were concerns about safety due to the risk of falling rocks and water flooding the road during the rainy season, which necessitated the closure of the route. However, with the completion of these tunnels, passengers can now travel safely and conveniently, free from such hazards.

Gadkari further mentioned that the road sections from Kiratpur to Nerchowk and from Pandoh to Takoli are slated to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He extended his best wishes to the people of Himachal Pradesh, referring to the region as "Devbhoomi" or the land of the gods.
