"Kapsch TrafficCom will deliver India’s first Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems project on a key expressway near New Delhi. The project will be implemented with Superwave Communication And Infrasolution Limited to demonstrate how connected mobility can improve road safety and traffic efficiency.

The pilot will use real-time connectivity and AI-enabled situational awareness to support road users, especially in high-risk areas such as temporary work zones. Drivers will receive alerts on roadworks, maintenance vehicles, hazardous locations, traffic queues and temporary virtual signage directly in their vehicles.

Selected locations along the corridor will be equipped with AI-enabled video sensors to analyse traffic conditions in real time and detect incidents such as stopped vehicles, congestion or the presence of road workers. These inputs will support proactive traffic management and faster operator response.

The connected services will also be available through the Kapsch TrafficAssist mobile app, enabling safety information to reach drivers even if their vehicles do not have built-in connected systems.

Kapsch TrafficCom will also train Indian engineers and operators to configure C-ITS services, use AI-based traffic analytics and manage operational workflows for Indian highway conditions. The project is expected to be completed over the next six months."
