Kashi will get its first city ropeway in November

After Bolivia's Lapaz and Mexico, the third-largest urban transit ropeway in the world is expected to open for business in Kashi on Dev Diwali. The first segment would make it easier and faster for the people of Kashi to get from Varanasi Junction Cantt Railway Station to Rath Yatra. This year, November 15 is Dev Diwali.
The City Ropeway's functioning will reduce Varanasi's traffic issues. The process of installing the machinery that was imported from Switzerland to build the ropeway has already begun. In Varanasi, the ropeway project is being carried out at an expense of Rs 8.07 billion. Berthollet, a business located in Switzerland, is performing this task. CM Yogi Adityanath is swiftly implementing PM Narendra Modi?s ambitious plan, which will provide considerable relief from the traffic problem in Varanasi. Officials here said the work of installing stations and towers for the operation of the ropeway is progressing rapidly. A trial run of the ropeway will happen soon.
Officials mentioned that gondola services would be provided to passengers at intervals of every one-and-a-half to two minutes. They stated that three thousand individuals would have the opportunity to travel in one direction within an hour, equating to a movement of six thousand passengers in both directions per hour. They further elaborated that it would take approximately 16 minutes to reach Cantt Railway Station from Godaulia, with around 150 trolley cars expected to operate at an estimated height of 45 to 50 meters. Additionally, they noted that approximately 10 passengers could board a trolley, and the ropeway would operate for 16 hours.
Prakash Gaur, the Chief Executive Officer of National Highway Logistics Private Limited (NHLML), mentioned that tourists from around the world visit Varanasi during Dev Diwali. He stated that NHLML was making efforts to ensure that ropeway operations commence by Dev Diwali, providing tourists visiting Kashi with a convenient and pollution-free transportation facility.
According to company officials, the anchor bolt had been installed at Vidyapeeth station, and several acceleration and de-acceleration conveyors had also been installed. They added that the work of installing the rope would commence soon. Additionally, they informed us that two towers had been installed from Varanasi Junction Railway Station to Rath Yatra, while work on 16 towers was progressing rapidly.
