Within a month, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is anticipated to decide on the Kundannoor-Angamaly bypass alignment, which was suggested to relieve congestion on the Edappally-Aroor NH 66 bypass.

Considering that the NH bypass, which is flanked on either side by shopping malls, car dealerships, and other major commercial enterprises, was unable to accommodate the ever-increasing number of vehicles, which crossed 1 lakh passenger-car units (PCUs) on the 16-km corridor, the proposal for an alternative bypass dates back to 2016. Even after flyovers were created at the four key intersections, traffic backups have become the norm as a result of the delay in finalising the alignment.

NHAI's land acquisition committee is examining the project's approximately 44-km-long alignment, its viability, and the property that has to be acquired (LAC). After this, an estimate will be prepared.
