Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won a contract to improve Latifa Bint Hamdan Street in Dubai as part of Phase one of a road development initiative by UAE authorities. The Transportation Infrastructure business vertical will upgrade the existing corridor between Emirates Road E611 and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road E311 to enhance capacity and traffic flows. Work will widen the current two lane dual carriageway into a four lane dual carriageway in each direction and extend the corridor with new carriageway sections.

A major structural interchange will be constructed at E311 to enable seamless movement across all directions and a dedicated interchange will be provided to facilitate U turn movements and access to developments on both sides of the corridor. The scope includes design and construction activities to upgrade geometry and strengthen pavement and supporting structures to meet projected traffic demands. The contract is scheduled for completion in 36 months from mobilisation.

The order is classified as significant under the company framework which corresponds to a value band of Indian rupee (Rs) 10 bn to Rs 25 bn.
