The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) plans to widen the narrow 1.5-kilometre stretch between Harinagar Cattle Colony in Balaganj and Gaughat into a two-lane road by the end of October. This upgrade aims to ease traffic flow and improve access to Phase I of the Green Corridor, which currently extends from IIM Road to Pakka Pul.

According to LDA official AK Senger, who heads the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) for the Green Corridor, this stretch is crucial to the corridor’s overall connectivity plan.

“Earth levelling is underway, and land along the proposed embankment alignment is being surveyed. Some delays are expected due to the monsoon season, which makes the work challenging and hazardous,” he stated.

Currently, more than 5,000 vehicles use this road daily to connect with the Green Corridor, but its single-lane layout causes severe congestion, often taking 20 minutes or longer to traverse the short distance.

Meanwhile, work on the second phase of the Green Corridor, running from IIM Road to Samata Mulak crossing, is progressing swiftly and is scheduled for completion by December.

Once finished, it is expected to reduce commute times from nearly an hour to just 20–25 minutes.

The road, developed along the right bank of the Gomti River, forms part of a wider urban mobility and congestion relief strategy.
