Maharashtra CM Orders New DPR for Vasai Ring Road Project

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has initiated the preparation of a fresh Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Ring Road in Vasai tehsil, Palghar district, adjacent to Mumbai.
Vasai-Virar township, located on the Western Line, forms part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Fadnavis, attended by Palghar MP Dr Hemant Savra, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, Vasai MLA Sneha Dube-Pandit, Nalasopara MLA Rajan Naik, and officials from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC), and Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate.
Dube-Pandit highlighted that extensive construction along the previously proposed Ring Road route necessitates a re-survey. “The Chief Minister ordered a new DPR be prepared with MMRDA’s assistance and directed that acquisition of currently vacant land should commence immediately,” she said.
She also raised concerns over severe traffic congestion and acute parking shortages in Vasai-Virar, prompting the Chief Minister to order a feasibility study of the proposal.
Additionally, Dube-Pandit noted that plans for seven essential flyover bridges and roads in Vasai-Virar—such as Range Office Chowk, Vasant Nagri, Evershine Gokhivare Road, and Manikpur Naka to Bhabola Naka—have been pending with MMRDA for years.
“The Chief Minister directed immediate collection of information on areas with 100 per cent land acquisition and provision of funds for these projects,” she added.
