Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik formally opened the flyover, which lies parallel to the under-construction Metro Line 4 corridor. Built to decongest the heavily trafficked Ghodbunder junction, the structure enables seamless movement for vehicles bypassing the bottleneck.

Designed to handle over 73,000 vehicles per day, the infrastructure includes a two-lane elevated flyway and a 2×2 lane underpass. Phase 2 of the flyover, connecting Gaimukh back to Thane, is expected to open after the monsoon.

Running alongside the flyover is Metro Line 4, a 32.3-kilometre elevated metro stretch from Wadala to Gaimukh, featuring 30 stations. Though yet to be inaugurated, construction is progressing swiftly. A recent milestone at Kapurbawdi station saw engineers install 98-tonne U-girders in a single night, fast-tracking preparations for trial runs between Cadbury Junction and Gaimukh, slated to begin later this year.
