Minister Urges Support for Kurnool Road Widening Project

Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath has urged land and property owners in Kurnool to cooperate with the government’s road widening project from Kids World to Budhawarpet Bridge, aimed at easing growing traffic congestion in the city.

Speaking at a meeting with affected property owners on Thursday, the minister said traffic volumes in Kurnool were increasing daily, making the expansion of major roads vital for smooth vehicular movement. He noted that the widening of the Kids World–Budhawarpet Bridge stretch had been pending for several years, and with public cooperation, the project could finally be completed swiftly.

Bharath stated that approximately 180 properties would be impacted by the expansion, which proposes to increase the road width to 50 feet. In the first phase, work will begin on a 175-metre stretch. He assured property owners that the government would provide fair and transparent compensation for all affected structures.

Under the proposed compensation plan, landowners will receive transferable development rights (TDR) bonds valued at four times the property’s worth, while the Roads and Buildings Department will compensate for damaged buildings. Those who lose their entire properties will be allotted alternative plots within city limits.

The minister also emphasised that officials would address all concerns raised by affected owners and ensure that no one is treated unfairly. “The government’s objective is to ensure justice for every citizen while driving infrastructure growth,” he said.

Bharath called on residents to extend their full support to the initiative, stressing that the project is crucial for the overall development of Kurnool city and for improving road safety and accessibility.
