Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 76-km Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the 29-km Dwarka Expressway on 17 August 2025, marking a major step in easing traffic across the National Capital Region (NCR). The new corridors will provide seamless travel from Chandigarh towards Indira Gandhi International Airport, Gurugram and Jaipur, reducing the burden on Delhiās Ring Road and arterial routes.
The Rs 90 billion Dwarka Expressway, built in four phases, and the Rs 77.16 billion UER-II, developed in five phases, are now complete. Modi had previously inaugurated the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway in March 2024.
Planned under the Delhi Master Plan 2021, UER-II begins at Alipur on NH-44 and links NH-9 and NH-48, covering 54.2 km in Delhi and 21.5 km in Haryana. The expressway also connects to the upcoming India International Convention Centre in Dwarka. It features eight lanes, grade separation, three-lane service roads, four multi-level interchanges and major underpasses.
Additionally, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids for multi-lane free flow tolling on the corridor, which is expected to enhance travel efficiency across the region.
