The central government has sanctioned Rs 27.5 million under the PM Jan Man Yojana for road construction at Parakkalu Koraga Colony in Kadaba taluk. Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta laid the foundation stone at Alankar, accompanied by Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya.
MP Chowta noted that the PM Jan Man Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2023, aims to develop essential infrastructure for underprivileged communities and will continue until 2026. The initiative prioritizes areas inhabited by Jenu Kuruba and Koraga communities, with funds allocated for road development based on survey findings.
He further highlighted that Rs 24 million was approved for a multipurpose centre, but the state government has yet to release the funds. Stressing the need for timely disbursal, he urged swift action to facilitate the construction of four multipurpose centres.
Under the PM Jan Man Yojana, the central government has allocated Rs 110 million for Dakshina Kannada district, covering roads, bridges, and multipurpose centres.
MP Chowta has also written to the chief engineer of the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), urging the expedited implementation of the long-pending Plastic Park project in Mangaluru’s Ganjimutt. The project, approved in 2022, remains stalled.
