Mumbai PWD grants six month extension to Radheshyam Mopalwar
Mopalwar had retired in February 2018 but was given an extension.
Sources told the media that as MSRDC was unable to finish work on the Mumbai-Nagpur super communication highway project's Nagpur-Shirdi phase- which was supposed to be inaugurated on May 1 but due to lack of industrial oxygen and lockdown, some ministers were interested in giving Mopalwar another extension. Now, his term will complete on November 30.
Mumbai-Nagpur super communication highway is the stellar project of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
The eight-lane expressway, which is 701 km long, is being constructed at the cost of Rs 55,000 crore. The Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi expressway will pass through as many as ten districts.
It is expected that the road project will decrease the travel period between Mumbai and Nagpur from the current 18 hours to just eight hours.
