The widening of the Nagpur-Jabalpur National Highway stretch near Kamptee in suburban Nagpur has received official approval during a high-level meeting chaired by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

As per a Maharashtra government statement, the decision was made during a review meeting held on 12 July. The existing road had narrowed to just 7 metres due to significant encroachment, resulting in frequent traffic congestion. The road will now be widened to 18 metres, based on historical records from the 1912–13 survey, to enable smoother traffic flow.

Instructions have been issued to the district administration, municipal council, and metro officials to jointly remove encroachments. The expansion is not only expected to decongest the area but also to spur local development.

A major commercial complex has also been approved near the proposed Kamptee metro station, bus stop, municipal council, and tehsil office as part of wider urban redevelopment efforts.

Further, National Highway status was granted to the Kharangana–Kondhali–Katol–Sawargaon–Vadchicholi corridor, and funds were allocated for the Mauda–Mathani–Chapegadi–Kuhi State Highway.

Approval was also given for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to extend the National Highway from Karanja in Washim district to the Madhya Pradesh border. Additionally, a new road connecting Koradi Naka to Orchid School and linking to the under-construction flyover on the Nagpur–Chhindwara NH was greenlit.

Funds were sanctioned for a ropeway between Shri Mahadev Tekdi and the 151-foot-tall Hanuman Mandir under the Shri Koradi Mahalaxmi Temple development plan.
