Nalgonda X Roads Flyover To Open Today

The Nalgonda X Roads Steel Flyover will be opened to traffic by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday, marking the completion of a major urban corridor in Hyderabad. The project, valued at Rs 6,200 mn, will provide a signal-free route between Nalgonda X Roads junction and Owaisi Hospital junction. Officials indicated that the inauguration will relieve long-standing congestion on the route. Work began years ago.

The flyover extends three point three two kilometre and comprises a four-lane carriageway with 88 spans. It incorporates a two point six three kilometre main viaduct and a 200 metre up-ramp from IS Sadan junction, together forming a continuous elevated corridor. The design aims to streamline vehicular movement and segregate through traffic from local flows. Construction proceeded with phased traffic management, night-time work and temporary diversions to minimise disruption and maintain safety for road users and local businesses.

Authorities stated that the corridor is expected to cut travel time from around 35 minutes to between five and eight minutes during peak hours and that commuters may save up to 30 minutes on certain trips. The route links Chanchalguda, Saidabad and IS Sadan and is intended to ease traffic bottlenecks along the busy stretch. Reduced idling is anticipated to lower fuel consumption and diminish vehicular pollution in the immediate area.

Hyderabad in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar and other officials described the project as delivering faster, smoother and conflict-free travel and noted potential economic and environmental benefits from improved mobility. The scheme is part of broader urban infrastructure efforts to enhance connectivity across the city and to support commuter convenience. Local authorities will monitor traffic flows and assess further measures to optimise corridor performance. Officials indicated that post-opening studies will measure journey time savings and air quality improvements to inform future infrastructure projects in the metropolitan area.
